    PUTTING MY PET TO SLEEP

Always a very difficult and painful decision for any animal lover and more so in the case of loving pet owners. However life is such that every pet owner, sooner or later will be faced with this decision: "When must I put my pet to sleep?" The SPCA and Veterinary surgeons are more than willing to assist owners of pets in making this decision as every situation will require it’s own assessment. However as a guideline it may be said that the final decision rests with the owner, but that one should make the decision for the animal’s sake and not for the emotional needs of the owner. When an animal is unable to have a quality of life it needs and deserves, then perhaps the time has come to consider the peacefulness of sleep for one’s beloved pet.

Remember, the method used to put an animal to sleep is both painless and humane and never cruel. Animals may be in pain and suffering without showing outward signs, such as yelping and keeping it around and alive because we do not have the heart to relieve them out of their suffering, may in the end be cruel.
